All schools and administrative offices will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

PPS hosting Month of the Military Family Social Event
In celebration of Military Family Appreciation Month, Portsmouth Public Schools is partnering with 10 organizations, including Liberty Military Housing, Fleet & Family Support Center and the Barry Robinson Center, to host “Family Social Event: Nurturing Your Mind, Body, and Physical Fitness.” The event will take place Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5-6:30 p.m., at the New Gosport Youth Center (309 Green Point Lane, Building 1498, Portsmouth, VA 23709). Military families will enjoy an evening filled with engaging activities centered on wellness, fitness, and mental wellbeing. A military ID is required to attend. The Tidewater Consortium, consisting of Isle of Wight County Schools, Portsmouth Public Schools, and Suffolk Public Schools in collaboration with Norfolk State University and University of Maryland, has been awarded approximately $9 million through the Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
