Trinity Allen, a senior at I.C. Norcom High School, has been named the Youth Poet Laureate Ambassador
for the City of Portsmouth and a runner-up to the Hampton Roads Youth Poet Laureate contest. With
this recognition, Allen joins a national cohort for Youth Poet Laureate programs.
According to Teens With A Purpose, which has been the local affiliated Youth Literary Arts Organization
since 2015, Youth Poet Laureate National Youth Poet Laureate Programs works with local youth literary
arts organizations across the United States to identify and celebrate exceptional youth poets who use
their voices to inspire change.
As a Norcom student, Allen is a dual enrollment senior, also attending Tidewater Community College as
an Early College Scholar, where she will graduate in May with her Associate’s Degree in Social Science.
