In October 2023, the Commonwealth of Virginia announced its ALL In Tutoring initiative, a new mandatory program for school divisions to address learning loss stemming from the pandemic.
Students in ALL In will be working in smaller groups (10 or less students) directly with a teacher (or trained tutor) for 45 minutes each day in order to focus specifically on foundational English and math skills. The ALL In Program will begin Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2023, and will continue daily for 18 weeks before SOL testing begins.
ALL In Tutoring sessions will take place as part of the ongoing school day, but please note: In creating the tutoring schedule, division leadership made sure that students did not lose any lunch, recess, or physical education time. Instead, the daily sessions were created by pulling from existing time during the school day where we were in excess of the state required instructional minutes.
Those students who do not meet the criteria for ALL In tutoring will take part in choice enrichment activities in their class. However, all families are able to visit the learning modules. For math, those modules are available through the ZEARN platform. For English, the division is using IXL and Reading Eggs, resources already used by all PPS schools.
You can access all these platforms by logging in to your child's Clever account.
If you have any questions or concerns about the ALL In Tutoring Program, you are encouraged to reach out to your child’s principal. Or, you can call the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at 757-393-8556.
