Government Finance Officers Association again gives PPS highest financial reporting honor
Once again, Portsmouth Public Schools (PPS) has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the division’s annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR).
According to the GFOA, the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by management.
“This is an honor we receive – and have historically received – each year,” said Dr. Elie Bracy, III, PPS superintendent. “That is a testament to the integrity and dedication of our outstanding Budget and Finance Department, and I want to thank them for their unyielding focus on ensuring we are as transparent and informative as possible in how we are using our funding.”
To receive the award, the ACFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the ACFR.
