Reading Escape Room being hosted for third-grade students
The PPS Title I Program and Department of Reading & English is hosting a Reading Escape Room for all third-graders Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Emily Spong Center. Throughout the night, students and their parents/guardians will take part in a number of reading activities to help solve a case. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited. Schools and administrative offices closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Monday, Jan. 20, all schools and administrative offices will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Bingo night to teach financial literacy
The PPS Office of Special Education is partnering with Bayport Credit Union to hold a Financial Bingo Literacy Night Wednesday, Jan. 22. While playing Bingo, students and family members will learn practical money management skills such as budgeting, saving and cultivating healthy spending habits. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the Parent Resource and Information Center (2801 Turnpike Road, Portsmouth, VA 23707).
Parents for Success Seminar back again
In partnership with Fruitful Ambition Coaching LLC, Stop, Inc., and EnvisionLeadGrow, Inc., the PPS Office of Family and Community Engagement is again offering the free Parents for Success Seminar. Attendees will learn more about financial wellness and goal-setting at the seminar. The seminar will be split over two days, Wednesday, Jan. 22 and Wednesday, Jan. 29.
