Victory Elementary School, Churchland Elementary School and Churchland Middle School have each been named a Purple Star school for the 2022-23 school year.
The Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children recognize schools as “Purple Star” honorees when they have demonstrated their commitment to meeting the needs of military-connected students and their families.
Schools do this in a number of ways, including by providing resources and programming on issues important to military families, such as academic planning and transitions between schools, divisions and states.
In earning this designation this year, these three schools will hold this honor for the next three years. This spring, a new cohort of schools will begin the application process.
