At the Dec. 12 meeting of the School Board of the City of Portsmouth, the School Board voted to
approve a school calendar with a two-week pre-Labor Day start for the 2025-26 school year.
Next school year will begin Monday, Aug. 18, and the year will end Friday, May 29.
This change was implemented to align with division programming that begins in August, to better
partner with shared regional services and to provide students more instructional time ahead of high-
stakes testing.
Families can access the new calendar on the calendar webpage of ppsk12.us. Please note that now that
the instructional calendar has been approved, progress report, report card, and graduation dates will be
finalized and published later in the year.
