Portsmouth Public Schools has earned the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for excellence in its budget presentation.
According to the ASBO, in order to earn the honor, PPS had to submit its application and budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with the MBA Criteria Checklist and other requirements and provide expert feedback that districts can use to improve their budget documents.
This is the latest honor for the PPS Budget Department. In June, the division was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the division’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
