Frances Johnson named PPS Nurse of the Year

At the last staff meeting for all Portsmouth Public Schools school nurses for the 2018-19 school year, Olive Branch Preschool Nurse Frances Johnson was named the 2019 School Nurse of the Year.

“She takes care of her students, works well with parents and staff, and is organized,” said Dr. Darlene Mueller, health services supervisor for Portsmouth Public Schools. “Her documentation is thorough. She readily volunteers to help other nurses and is a team player…she is a nurse who truly works hard to do what is expected.”

In addition to Johnson’s award, three other awards were handed out to honor the hard work of the division’s nurses.

The Thermometer Award goes to the nurse who has demonstrated the ability to keep cool under pressure. The Thermometer Award for 2019 went to Rose Gardiner, from Hodges Manor Elementary.
