Chief Communications Officer named finalist for Excellence in School Marketing Award
Portsmouth Public Schools Chief Communications Officer Dr. Lauren Nolasco has been named one of just four finalists from across North America for SchoolCEO Magazine’s Excellence in School Marketing Award. According to SchoolCEO, the award honors school communications professionals and their “innovative work that pushes the fields of school communications and marketing forward.”
As a finalist, Nolasco will be profiled in the next edition of SchoolCEO magazine. The Excellence in School Marketing Award winner will be announced at the 2024 SchoolCEO Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, which takes place Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
“Since her first day with us, Lauren has proven herself to be an asset to our division,” said Portsmouth Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Elie Bracy, III. “She seamlessly blends creativity with logic, demonstrating this extraordinary ability to not only produce innovative ideas but to methodically plan and successfully execute them. We will certainly be rooting for her in Little Rock!”
Nolasco has led the Portsmouth Public Schools Department of Communications since 2019. In that time, she has led the launch of a new logo and “Shining Brighter Together” brand identity for the division; greatly expanded the role of video production within the division’s marketing efforts; redesigned the division’s website to better highlight student achievement as well as be more intuitive to visitors; and, she brought an analytic approach to the social media channels to help guide content development.
Nolasco holds a doctorate in strategic communication from Regent University and is also accredited in public relations, a professional certification of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She is a member of the National Schools Public Relations Association, Chesapeake Schools Public Relations Association, and the PRSA.
