Portsmouth Public Schools offering free mental health care coordination services with new partner

As part of its ongoing efforts to support students, staff and families in their mental health journeys, Portsmouth Public Schools (PPS) has partnered with Care Solace to help expand access to community mental health and substance use treatment providers.

With Care Solace, families and staff get immediate assistance in navigating the mental health care system, with Care Solace staff calling providers to find the right fit and availability.

“We know that one of the largest obstacles for anyone experiencing any kind of mental health concern can be finding access to a provider for assistance and support,” said Dr. Elie Bracy, III, superintendent of Portsmouth Public Schools. “Those delays in receiving care can mean students are missing extended class time, staff members are unable to report to work prepared for the day, or family members cannot fully engage with their child’s learning and progress at home. Therefore, we are happy to provide our community a way to more efficiently and successfully find the supports they need in a timeframe they deserve.”

Care Solace’s care navigation system uses proprietary technology and a vast database of behavioral and mental health care resources to find carefully verified therapists and programs in minutes. Care Solace helps families with private insurance, Medicaid, and no insurance. The Care Solace team is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, in any language.

“The effects of loss, isolation, uncertainty, and fatigue brought on by the pandemic continue to pose new challenges for students, staff, and their families," said Chad Castruita, founder and CEO of Care Solace. "We are proud to support Portsmouth Public Schools in prioritizing the well-being of its school community by providing timely access into mental health care and substance use treatment services.”

The Care Solace service is now available at no cost to Portsmouth Public Schools students, staff, and their families. For more information about Care Solace, visit ppsk12.us/heretohelp or www.caresolace.com/ppsk12.
