Virginia Alternate Assessment Program

On Friday, June 24, 2022, the first test administration of the new Virginia Alternate Assessment Program (VAAP) officially ended. The successful administration of approximately 22,000 VAAP tests to eligible students with significant cognitive disabilities reflects the preparation and implementation efforts of school division administrators and teachers across the Commonwealth.

The Department of Student Assessment, Accountability, and ESEA Programs and the Department of Special Education and Student Services is seeking feedback on the new VAAP from DDOTs, special education directors, and teachers as well as from parents of students with significant cognitive disabilities who participated in the 2021-2022 VAAP administration.

Please use the first link listed below to share your feedback and forward the remaining links to teachers and parents as indicated. All feedback received will be used to assist Virginia Department of Education staff with future VAAP implementation.
