Portsmouth School Board passes resolution regarding middle and high school students participating in sports and extracurricular activities

Good evening, PPS families –

Last night, at the Regular Meeting of the School Board of the City of Portsmouth, the School Board passed a resolution mandating that all middle and high school students taking part in sports programs or extracurricular activities either show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or submit to weekly COVID-19 testing at the school.

In accordance with the resolution, every PPS middle and high school student participating in athletics or extracurricular activities (as well as all coaches and sponsors) are required to either be fully vaccinated by Monday, Dec. 6, or submit to weekly testing. The weekly testing will be available at schools and it will be done at no charge.

To assist families in getting their child vaccinated, the school division will be hosting vaccination clinics in the weeks to come. More information will be sent out as those dates and times are finalized.

Thank you.
