PPS Feeding Program

All students in Portsmouth Public Schools can receive free breakfasts and lunches throughout the 2020-21 school year. All students are able to pick up meals at any one of the division’s 16 elementary and high schools, which have been designated as meal pick up sites.

Spring Break Feeding Program:
All meal sites will give out two days of meals on Thursday, April 1, from 7-9 a.m. All meal sites will give out five days of meals on Friday, April 2, from 7-10 to allow students/families more time to get the five days of meals.

The Magic School Bus will run as normal and serve meals through Friday, April 2. Families who receive their meals from the Magic School Bus will have to go to a meal pickup site to pick up the five meals for Spring Break. The last day of the Magic School Bus deliveries will be Friday, April 2.

Beginning Monday, April 12:
All students in school will be provided both a breakfast and a lunch in the building. Food services staff will be complying with all health department and CDC guidelines in the preparation and distribution of food. The breakfast and lunch schedule for all schools can be accessed here.

For Monday, April 12 only, all schools will serve virtual meals from 9:30 to the end of the scheduled lunch period and they will be giving out breakfast and lunch for the first day as well as breakfast for the following day.

Meals for virtual school students will be handed out at each school at the same time the school lunch is being served at the school (schools’ breakfast and lunch schedules can be accessed here). Families will receive lunch for that day as well as breakfast for the following day. On Fridays, families will receive lunch for Friday and breakfast for Monday.

Additionally, all three high schools will continue to distribute meals from 7-9 a.m. for families that would like to continue picking them up at this time. As a reminder, any student can get a meal from any school, they do not have to be attending that school to get a meal from that school.

Staff members who would like to get lunch from the cafeteria will have a separate menu, which can be accessed here. Due to the pandemic, food services staff members are not to accept cash payments, so staff members will need to set up a MySchoolBucks account to pay for meals.

Guidelines:
  • Meals will be offered Monday through Friday
  • School buildings will NOT be open during these times
  • Please do not attempt to call schools directly as their offices are closed
  • The child(ren) MUST be present in order to receive the meals
  • Both meals (breakfast and lunch) will be available for pickup at the same time
  • Meals will be offered in a Grab and Go format; there will be no dining on school premises
  • All students will need to present their Portsmouth Public Schools ID card to receive meals
  • Meals will not be served during the Thanksgiving break or winter break
