Portsmouth Public Schools provides early childhood special education and related services to eligible children with disabilities age two through six (by September 30th), inclusive. For a child to be eligible for special education services, the child must have a documented disability that creates an adverse educational impact and requires specialized instruction to access the general education curriculum. We aim to provide special education services for 2-4 year old children in the child's natural setting including: home-based services, services in a Head Start or other community setting, and half/full day placements in our public preschool center classrooms. In our public preschool center classrooms, we provide services in our general education 4 year old program, our reverse inclusion 2/3 year old classrooms, or in special education classes.
